Gaelach Breithe: The Final Fantasy IV Novel

ABOUT:

Well, where do I start?

This novel came about as a result of one long year of research into Final Fantasy IV, which involves the data settings booklet, the now abandoned unofficial website, and a japanese website that I found through that site. I also admit that it came about as a result of my passion (okay, fanaticism) for this game. I can't peg why I like it, but I do, to the point where you could call me a collecter, despite that I only found out about the game when Advance came out, and didn't buy a copy of the game until the DS version.

But I digress. Why bother writing a novel that can never be published?

Well, just because it can't be published, doesn't mean it's not worth writing. You see, I believe that many people enjoy this game (it's the most remade FF after all), and I wanted to do something for the fandom that was unique to me, which would be this writing. I know, I know, there are other writers who have tried this, but I have never found a succeded version - most of them quit after the Paladin sequence.

The main reason, however, is that I wanted to prove to myself that I could write a novel, and, here I am, five chapters, 49+ pages, 31k+ words, a filler chapter and a prouloge later with something that I don't want to quit writing anytime soon. I realize that I can do this.

I know one or two of you will stummble across this. My goal is not to have everyone read this, but that the few people who do read it enjoy it, and can tell that I put myself into this.

Where did I get the idea?

Actually, I tried to write a novel called Fabula Consesnio for Tales of Symphonia (GCN, 2004), but I failed miserably. As much as I loved that game, I didn't have a passion for it like I do for this one. For whatever reason, Cecil resonated wtih me in a way that doesn't happen often. It was almost like he and the others became my own characters, something that I couldn't say for the Tales of Symphonia cast, no matter how unique it was, no matter how much I loved it. Disenheartened by my failure in that fandom, I decided that, being knocked down, I would get back up again, and GB was born.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this spolier free Final Fantasy IV novel.
